Synopsis

Air carrier Captain reported a gear unsafe indication on approach and a flap speed exceedance during the go around maneuver.

Narrative

On final to XXL at ZZZ we were a little fast on approach. While trying to slow we also got a little high. We lowered the gear early to help slow down. Approximately 2500 RA (Radar Altimeter). At approximately 1500 RA we received the ECAM L/G GEAR NOT DOWNLOCKED with 3 red indications. The to do items started with recycle the gear. My first thought was to raise the gear in hopes of cycling. However the FO and I believed we were too low to safely complete the gear recycle. FO said he wanted to go around and I agreed. At this point we were aprox 1000 RA. During the go around with the gear up already we oversped the flaps a little. Flaps 2 and approx 200-210 knots for a few seconds. ATC gave us headings and told us to inform them when we were ready to return. While on headings we finished recycling the gear while maintaining 200 kts. The gear came down successfully and all indications showed they were down and locked. We informed ATC and they gave us vectors for another approach maintaining 210 kts. Landing was successful. As we taxied off the runway we received the ECAM L/G SYS DISAGREE. We stopped on the taxiway and called Maintenance Control. Maintenance Control and I determined that we did not need a tow in so we taxied to the gate. All maintenance items were written up at the gate in coordination with Maintenance Control. I also followed up with the Chief Pilot.
