Synopsis

COMMUTER FLT; NO PAX ON BOARD; ABORTS TKOF AS DOOR OPENS LIGHT ILLUMINATES.

Narrative

WE WERE CLRED FOR TKOF ON RWY 33L FROM INTXN G. ON THE TKOF ROLL A DOOR LIGHT FLASHED ON THE ANNUNCIATOR PANEL AND I CALLED FOR THE FO TO ABORT THE TKOF. AFTER TURNING OFF THE RWY I CHKED THE MAIN CABIN DOOR AND DETERMINED THAT ALTHOUGH THE DOOR LIGHT WAS LOCKED I COULD MOVE THE HANDLE UP FIRMLY AND THE DOOR LIGHT WENT OUT. I DETERMINED THAT THE VIBRATION OF THE TKOF ROLL CAUSED THE MICROSWITCH IN THE DOOR TO ILLUMINATE THE LIGHT. FIRMLY CLOSING THE LATCH EXTINGUISHED THE DOOR LIGHT AND I WAS CONFIDENT THERE WAS NO PROBLEM. I WOULD ALSO LIKE TO NOTE THAT I HAVE BEEN FLYING THIS TYPE OF ACFT FOR 3 YRS AND I HAVE SEEN THE SAME OCCURRENCES MANY TIMES. BOSTON TWR ASKED WHAT OUR INTENTIONS WERE AND I REPLIED THAT WE WERE READY FOR TKOF. WE WERE CLRED FOR TKOF AND THE FLT WENT WITHOUT INCIDENT; THE LIGHT DID NOT ILLUMINATE AGAIN. ALTHOUGH THERE WAS NOT ANOTHER PROBLEM WITH THE DOOR LIGHT AND I AM CONFIDENT THAT I CORRECTED THE PROBLEM PRIOR TO DEPARTING AGAIN; IT CAME TO MY ATTN AFTER THE FACT THAT PROPER PROC WOULD BE TO TAXI BACK TO THE GATE. HAVE A MECH LOOK AT THE MICROSWITCH CTLING THE DOOR LIGHT AND DETERMINE THAT IT WAS NOT FAULTY; AND MAKE THE CORRECT ENTRIES IN THE LOGBOOK. WITH THIS INFO MY ACTIONS SHOULD HAVE BEEN TO RETURN TO THE GATE. I DID NOT COMPROMISE SAFETY ON THIS FLT BUT IF THE SITUATION EVER OCCURS AGAIN; NOW THAT I HAVE BEEN MADE AWARE OF THE FACT; I WILL RETURN TO THE GATE AND PROPERLY WRITE THE DISCREPANCY IN THE LOGBOOK.
