Flight Instructor reported a near miss during final approach with an aircraft that taxied onto the same runway and took off.
Synopsis
Flight Instructor reported a near miss during final approach with an aircraft that taxied onto the same runway and took off.
Narrative
Short base; short final simulated power Off 180 accuracy and approach for Rwy 18 at 2R2. Started base turn and saw Aircraft Y on the run up area (approach end of 18.) Student made all necessary radio calls. Instructor advised that if approach path took student over the top of aircraft on run up area; we would initiate a go around and side step to the west. Turned short final and Aircraft Y on approach end of 18 rolled onto the runway and initiated a takeoff roll with no radio calls. We initiated a go around and began to climb out to avoid departing aircraft while also stating our intentions on the local UNICOM frequency. We could not side step to our left because of traffic in the left downwind for 18 and did not side step to the right because of not knowing the location of traffic on the runway. With no ADS-B; Aircraft Y below us departed 18 and came close to under cutting us around 1500' MSL before maneuvering to the right. (Aircraft Z was in the left downwind during circumstance; had a great vantage point.)
Second reporter narrative
I was with my commercial student; we were doing traffic patterns at 2R2; as the traffic started to get a little busy; there was also another airplane in the pattern; I wasn't exactly sure if Aircraft Y went around or if they did a touch and go; but when I looked left towards the runway as I was on the downwind; I saw Aircraft Y and Aircraft Z nearly 2 to 300 feet apart; as I was rushing in my mind to say something on CTAF; my student was also focused on the two airplanes that nearly collided; as soon as I look at the PFD to keep my scan I see that we have a climb going on continuing from 2000; as I try to immediately stop it; we went 20 feet into the Charlie airspace above 2R2; which is Indianapolis International Airport Charlie airspace; I immediately asked my student to contact Indy approach and tell them what happened and see what they would like us to do; he told them that we busted their space by 20 feet; they responded by we didn't have any issues. don't worry about it. Contact us upon coming inbound. Indianapolis ATC said they had no issues; therefore we continued our flight. I am putting this report out there just in case anything comes up.
