TAXIING SMA IS BLOWN OVER BY JET BLAST FROM JET DOING A MAINT RUNUP.
Narrative
THE WX WAS CLR WITH WINDS AT 15-20 KTS OUT OF THE NE; A SANTA ANA CONDITION. THIS FLT WAS TO BE A DUAL PRIVATE XCOUNTRY FLT WITH MY STUDENT. HE CALLED VNY GND CTL WITH OUR POS AND ATIS INFO AND WE WERE TOLD TO 'TAXI TO 34L.' WE TAXIED OUT AND FOLLOWED THE TAXIWAY E THEN TURNED SBOUND. AS WE TURNED; I REPOSITIONED THE FLT CTLS FOR A L QUARTERING TAILWIND. AFTER THE TURN HAD BEEN COMPLETED; I FELT THE AIRPLANE BEING LIFTED FROM THE TAIL AND FORCED OVER TO THE R SIDE. THE NOSE; PROP; AND R WING STRUCK THE GND; THEN WE STARTED TO BE PUSHED ALONG THE TAXIWAY IN THAT POS. I TURNED THE FUEL OFF AND WENT THROUGH A SHUTDOWN PROC WHILE I TOLD STUDENT TO 'GET OUT OF THE AIRPLANE.' AFTER I HAD GOTTEN OUT OF THE AIRPLANE I WAS ASSISTED BY 2 MEN. WAS NOT UNTIL I WAS OUTSIDE OF THE AIRPLANE THAT I REALIZED THAT WE HAD BEEN OVERTURNED BY AN ACR JET THAT WAS DOING A RUNUP FACING THE BLAST FENCE WITH THE JET BLAST DIRECTED TOWARD THE TAXIWAY. THE JET CONTINUED TO REMAIN PWRED UP AND WE TURNED THE AIRPLANE INTO THE BLAST AND HELD IT THERE UNTIL THEY PWRED DOWN. THERE WERE OTHER WITNESSES AS WELL AND I WAS TOLD THAT THE OCCUPANTS OF THE JET WERE ALL MAINT MEN. THE FAA; LCL FSDO OFFICERS TOLD ME THAT IT APPEARED THAT IT WAS CLRLY THE JET'S FAULT AND THAT THEY WOULD PROBABLY SEEK NO ACTION UPON ME.
