Synopsis
Corporate jet flight crew reported encountering wake turbulence that led to a longer landing than normal and ATC had to tell another aircraft to go around after the reporter's aircraft was unable to comply with last-minute instructions.
Narrative
We were sequenced behind a heavy aircraft on Runway 19L. We experienced un-commanded roll from wake turbulence so we decided to fly slightly above the glidepath which caused us to land longer than normal but still in the first 3000 feet of the runway with ample runway in front of us. On roll out; the Tower Controller gave us several instructions that we were unable to comply with because of our speed. My SIC said unable. We understood instruction to make a 180 on the runway and exit at Taxiway D; which we did do. We noticed an aircraft in position for takeoff at the north end of the runway. There was another aircraft on short final which was told to go around." We thought that we had complied with what we were able to comply with and were clear that we were unable to comply with the first couple of instructions because of our speed and the lateness of receipt of those instructions. We could hear that the Tower Controller was upset because of having to make an airliner go around. He scolded us for not clearing the runway on Runway 27 as directed; which we are fairly certain that the instruction was to clear the runway with a left turn at 'D.'Prior to touchdown; we were never informed that we were to clear the runway at any specific location until it was too late to accomplish the task safely. It is my belief that a lack of information from the controller; coming in a timely manner; was the cause of this occurrence. It is in my opinion; inappropriate to give last minute instructions to pilots; in a critical phase of the landing process."
