Synopsis

Experimental light sport pilot reported a power drop during initial climb. Pilot landed off-airport with no damage to aircraft or injury.

Narrative

Taking off from ZZZ on Runway XX the plane was quick to get airborne and after climbing a couple hundred feet AGL I experienced RPM and power drop; followed by regaining RPM and power increase. I was too low to attempt a turn around and too high to drop back on the the runway. I proceeded straight ahead and reduced power to land safely in the corn field straight ahead and adjacent to the runway. I landed without incident and was able to continue to nearly the end of the corn field. Landing was uneventful; slightly damaging some of the corn but without damage to the plane or injury of any kind. I was able to get in contact with the owner of the field and actually met him shortly after landing. He was very kind and told me not to even be concerned about any damage to his corn. He was glad I was fine and that the landing was safe. My aircraft is current with Condition Inspection as of Day 0; and is Airworthy. I am current with Biennial Flight Review; 3rd Class Medical. Upon returning the plane to ZZZ we inspected the carburetor and found debris. We plan to overhaul carburetor and add a drain for fuel drainage at lowest point of the Fuel system.
