EMB-145 First Officer reported a hard landing after being distracted by cross-landing traffic.
Synopsis
EMB-145 First Officer reported a hard landing after being distracted by cross-landing traffic.
Narrative
After an uneventful flight from ZZZ1 we were assigned RWY XX into ZZZ. We were told to slow to 190. We extended flaps 9 and slowed. With the autopilot on there was an occupation +/- 500 ft minute so I was having a difficult time managing the speed. I opted to hand fly and disconnected the autopilot. We were then told to slow to 170 and turn inbound and descend to 1600 ft. We called the field in sight and were cleared for the visual. I turned inbound and configured for final. ATC then told us to execute a series of S turns. I complied. On short final I became distracted by the crossing/landing traffic on XYR. It was very close. Until this point we had maintained stable criteria. Short final I noticed that the aircraft had slowed below ref and we touched down hard. Due to the slow speed I was unable to arrest the descent of the nose which also hit hard. Captain wrote the aircraft up for possible hard landing. I was shaken by the incident and called fatigue. I would also like to note that the cockpit temp on the flight never got below 28c.
