Synopsis
Helicopter pilot reported flying through a UAS NOTAM that became active in flight. The helicopter pilot reported the NOTAM was not published prior to takeoff.
Narrative
I was PIC of a Bell 407 inbound from an offshore Oil rig to ZZZ. Prior to departing on this flight at XA50 local time; I checked for NOTAMS and TFR's along this route (as I do each and every morning) and did not see anything pertinent for my route of flight. I use the FAA Notam Search web page and the FAA Graphic TFR Map web page. I 'beached in' over Location A at approximately XF10 local time and proceeded Northwest at 750 AGL to enter the ZZZ airport traffic area from the West side. Evidently; a UAS Airspace NOTAM popped up around XF00 local time and I was told I penetrated the airspace. I was unable to check for NOTAMS during this time because we do not have cell phone service in that offshore area; nor do we use Foreflight for our type operations. However; I do check for these NOTAMS EACH AND EVERY MORNING prior to takeoff from ZZZ1. This NOTAM was not online prior to my takeoff this morning. I sincerely regret this occurrence. I wish there was one more layer of protection for us pilots who fly daily through / around these types of airspace. It is my understanding that this NOTAM was activated at XF00 local time and we flew through the airspace around XF10 local time. One solution to this problem would be to avoid all the airspace around Location B since a NOTAM can pop up at a moment's notice and catch the unwary pilot.
