Synopsis
Experimental amphibian aircraft pilot reported loss of control while landing in a crosswind resulted in a runway excursion.
Narrative
Following is a summary of the landing event that I had at ZZZ.I departed ZZZ1 solo in Aircraft X; an Aventura 2; after receiving a 'ForeFlight' briefing to ZZZ. The flight was VFR and took approximately 1.5 hrs. The flight was uneventful and the ZZZ AWOS was calling gusty winds at approximately 280/12 favoring Runway XX. At about XA:40 with a left crosswind component of about 7 kts. I touched down on the left main then the right; when I set the tail wheel down still holding the crosswind correction; the aircraft veered off the runway at about a 30 deg angle. Despite full right rudder and left aileron; I was unable to regain the center line and departed the prepared surface. The left wing hit some bushes and small trees and spun around ending up; with engine still running; in a culvert. I shut down the engine and got out of the aircraft uninjured. Upon initial inspection; the aircraft sustained damage mainly to the left wing fabric; the hull had a dent in the area of the chine; and the right wing also had some fabric tears. Additionally; the spontoon supports were bent. Fabric will have to be cut away from the wings to inspect for further damage. The runway was shut down for about 30 mins when crash; fire; and rescue vehicles arrived and again for 30 mins at about XD:00 when the aircraft was hoisted back to the runway. There were no injuries or damage to any runway lights etc. The aircraft was determined to be a landing incident with no substantial damage.
