Synopsis
Recreational / Hobbyist UAS pilot reported flying a UAS in controlled airspace without LAANC authorization. The UAS pilot landed the UAS upon realization of this error.
Narrative
Unfortunately the problem was entirely my (pilot) error. I am a new pilot and generally fly close to my home city which is relatively more south and well outside of any airspace restrictions but in this case I wound up flying further north in a more agricultural area that feels subjectively more remote and so I did not realize I was within a couple miles of the airport when I took off. Fortunately within about 10 minutes of takeoff I realized I had not checked airspace restrictions and immediately grounded the drone to do so and used the autopylot app and it was then to my dismay that I realized I had committed an airspace violation by not applying for a LAANC at which time I packed up the craft and returned home to file this report.Notably; unlike DJI drones that I understand have airspace restrictions built in my newer Autel drone does not seem to have any sort of software alert on the flight map that one is in or near restricted airspace. Course software is never adequate to overcome human error entirely and so in this case the fault lies only with me.
