Synopsis
Air carrier Captain reported crossing the hold short line at SKBO/BOG while the taxiway was wet and the dark lighting conditions made the markings hard to see.
Narrative
On the taxi out towards our departure Runway 14L at SKBO while on Taxiway A-1; I was cleared to hold short of Runway 14L for landing traffic but failed to see the hold short line in time and came to a stop with the flight deck just past the hold short line as soon as we realized we had just crossed the hold short line. Tower asked us if we had crossed the hold short line to which we responded in the positive. The taxiway was wet and the markings were very hard to see on account of the wet surface; the darkness and the absence of any lights indicating the hold short point for said runway. The airport had no wig-wags or lighted runway indicator lights at the hold short line and the intersection between Taxiway A-1 and the Runway 14L hold short line is at the apex of a 45° turn to the right. We held position where we initially stopped as the traffic on long finals executed a missed approach and were subsequently instructed to line up and wait on Runway 14L and finally were cleared for takeoff from Runway 14L without further incident.Ensure that the taxiway marking; hold short lines and all applicable signage is properly lit; visible and clearly distinguishable regardless of taxiway surface conditions or light conditions.
