A319 flight crew reported hydraulic system malfunction in cruise. Diverted and returned to departure airport.
Narrative
Shortly after level off at cruise altitude a HYD G RESVR LO LVL ECAM was displayed. The First Officer (FO) completed the ECAM. We then reviewed our options and requested priority handling. We then contacted Dispatch and patched in Maintenance. A decision was made to divert to ZZZ. The flight attendants were then given a brief. A PA announcement was made and the cabin was prepared for a return to ZZZ. We reviewed and briefed the approach; landing; all flight manual irregular items. We discussed contingencies and briefed the overweight landing; nose gear steering inop; tow procedures and passenger handling. We requested emergency equipment and contact frequency. A successful landing was made. Engines were shut down.Communications were established. Flight attendants were coordinated with and passengers were addressed. There were no passenger issues. A tow was completed to the gate. Flight management met us and were debriefed. Crew was debriefed. Chief pilot contacted us.Required Reports are now being completed.
