AN ACR LGT FO COMPLAINS ABOUT HIS COMPANY'S DEICE AND PUSH OUT PROCS AT ANC.

Narrative

ACFT PUSHED OFF GATE TO DEICE. GND CREW REQUESTED TO DISCONNECT FOR DEICE AND USE HAND SIGNALS. CAPT REQUESTED GND CREW HOOK BACK UP FOR ENG STARTS. GND CREW DIDN'T WANT TO DUE TO COLD WX BUT FINALLY AGREED. ONCE DEICE COMPLETED ENG STARTS INITIATED. GND CREW; UNHAPPY ABOUT HAVING TO HOOK BACK UP; DID NOT COMMENT ON STARTS AND SENT TUG BACK TO GATE PRIOR TO ENG STARTS BEING ACCOMPLISHED. GND CREW THEN MOVED UNDER ACFT OUT OF VIEW OF CAPT. AFTER START CHKS COMPLETED. TAXI CLRNC REQUESTED AND RECEIVED. TURNED NOSEWHEEL AND ADDED PWR. GND CREWMAN MOVED TO BE SEEN BY CAPT AND REQUESTED TO DISCONNECT. REMOVAL OF TUG PRIOR TO GND CREW DISCONNECT WAS NON STANDARD AND BROKE THE NORMAL CHAIN OF EVENTS DESIGNED TO ENSURE EVERYONE'S SAFETY. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 227354: ACFT NEEDED DEICING. DEICE CREW DID NOT ADVISE PRIOR TO STARTING DEICE PROC. CREW ADVISED WHEN COMPLETE. THIS WAS NOT IN ACCORDANCE WITH PROCS OF AIRLINE AND DID NOT ALLOW FLC TO ACCURATELY MEASURE TIME ELAPSED FROM DEICE TO TKOF TO ENSURE DEICE FLUID STILL EFFECTIVE. BETTER COMS AND ADHERENCE TO AIRLINE PROCS ARE A MUST. FLC COMPLETED A VISUAL INSPECTION OF WINGS PRIOR TO TAXI.
