Synopsis

EMB-175 flight crew reported loss of engine oil inflight. Diverted and landed uneventfully.

Narrative

During my preflight preparation; and having been familiar with some of the history of this aircraft (including having had this aircraft present Eng 2 oil issues on my previous trip); I reviewed the last several pages of the maintenance log. There were numerous write-ups for Eng 2 Oil level Low over the past several days; including two in one day. We departed with both engine oil quantities equal. After climbing out on our way to ZZZ1; I switched my (MFD) Multi-function Flight Display to the Status page to check the oil quantity; which is not a normal process during our flights. After just 40 minutes of flying; we had already lost about 3 quarts of oil. At XA:13; we sent a message over ACARS stating; 'OIL QTY AT T/O WAS 9.4 BOTH. RT ENG INDICATING 6.4 NOW W/ LEFT HOLDING AT 9.4'Thankfully; by being familiar with this tail number; and knowing to check the oil quantities; we caught the problem before it got worse. We began discussing a diversion since we would not get close to our destination with this rate of oil loss. While messaging Dispatch; the Captain and I decided we would either be returning to ZZZ or continue our present direction to ZZZ2. During the process of coordinating with Dispatch; as we got further from ZZZ; we realized the rate of oil loss (about 1 quart every 10-15 minutes) would not allow us to reasonably return to ZZZ. Initially Dispatch indicated they would prefer our return to ZZZ; but after making them more aware of this rate of loss; they agreed with our diversion to ZZZ2. It is worth noting that; also during this process; Dispatch was asking which engine had the problem -- even after the original message seemed clear to us; and with the history of this particular tail.During the descent to ZZZ2; the rate of oil loss slowed; but oil was still being lost. The oil quantity got as low as 3.6 quarts prior to landing in ZZZ2 with just about 1.5 hours of flight time.
