Synopsis
Cessna 172 student pilot reported a hard landing resulting in a collapsed main landing gear strut.
Narrative
I am a student pilot who came in to solo and do pattern work. All my documents were inspected in order to go out and solo. I went out; did my usual preflight checklist; made sure oil and fuel was good. Inspected the plane thoroughly and everything was good. Taxied out to Runway XXL via Taxiway 1. Did 1 full stop taxi back and then touch and goes. My landings were good but my last landing before going out again and coming for a full stop was a bit hard. After I was coming in for a full stop; making it my final landing. I landed firmly; slightly hard; slightly loaded to the left; and as I proceeded to taxi out on Taxiway 2; the left strut was bending in on itself and I had to stop in the middle of runway XXL. ATC contacted me; asked if I needed assistance; I told them yes and that I was stopped on the runway. They informed me that county and fire rescue was coming out to see me. There was no fire; I was able to shut the engine off and there was leakage from the fuel vent from the left wing since it was titled down. Law enforcement and fire rescue came to the scene; asked if I was ok; asked for my ID; Student Pilot License; and medical certificate which I gave to them. After the mechanics came; they were able to get the plane off the runway and back to the FBO. I went with them and they brought me back.
