C182 Instructor reported visible oil leak resulted in expeditious return to departure airport. Instructor also stated aircraft was 25 hours on new engine with a prop governor unit failure.
Narrative
Departed ZZZ runway XXL. During initial climb upon setting climb power noticed oil streaking and collection on the left side of the forward windscreen affecting the left seat pilots ability to see. Requested priority handling with ZZZ tower and was given approval for a left base entry and clearance to land on runway XY. Control was transferred to right seat pilot (me) and a normal landing was completed with no injuries or damage. Engine oil pressure and temperature remained within normal limits short taxi to our ramp; was met by a company maintenance tech who removed the engine cowling that revealed the engine compartment covered in engine oil with light oil smoke and oil dripping to the ramp. Estimate that we had lost 1 to 2 quarts of oil (out of 7 total)during our short flight. Maintenance tech also stated that he believed he found the source of the leak as coming from the propeller governor unit. Engine had recently had a complete overhaul with approximately 25 hours on the new engine.
