Synopsis

Air Carrier Maintenance Inspector reported while performing a borescope inspection the number two engine; found a one-inch crack on the convex side of the stage two high pressure turbine nozzle guide vane. The engineer recommended grounding the aircraft.

Narrative

During the performance of a Borescope on Aircraft X; a crack of about 1 inch was found in the Convex surface of the HPT S2 NGV. Engineers were notified at XA:00 am. The finding was also uploaded online as 'Within Limits' because according to the Job Card; 'It is permitted to have two cracks that are 0.35 inch or less in length.' My finding was ONE CRACK of about 1 inch. The job card does not explain about these types of findings. The aircraft was on its way to ZZZ.Cause: The Job Card is not clear in regards to other type of Findings. It only explains what to do in case there are 'Two Cracks with 0.35 inch or longer'. The Job Card does not explain what to do in other situations or in case other findings are in place.Suggestions: A Job Card and/or a Manual is supposed to follow a coherent sequence; providing fluidity to the mechanic's performance (or inspector).A Job Card that makes the mechanic turn pages back and forth during the performance of a single job; or it is not explicit about other outcomes is not really a good manual. It leads to confusion and errors.....unfortunately in aviation we cannot have the luxury of making errors.
