Synopsis
Light aircraft pilot reported traffic transitioned pattern at N07 unannounced; resulting in an NMAC.
Narrative
I was on approach to N07 from the north; and had been announcing my position since 10 NM out. No one was on the frequency; so I announced I would fly overhead at 1500 to check the wind sock. I was 1 NM away from the overhead when I noticed a converging traffic coming from 7 o'clock on the GI275 traffic page; that I keep in front of me to monitor traffic. It looked like it was going to pass just in front of me; and I instinctively opened left to try to see it. But he was passing just below us to our left before I had time to do anything. . It seemed very very close. I checked the next day on FlightSto - it showed only 130 feet vertical separation and same horizontally based on NDSB tracks. That information also showed that aircraft's path; cutting straight through the pattern of N07; barely 100ft. above at pattern altitude; to make a direct path to his landing airfield CDW; about 5NM to the south. Initially I presumed he did not know the area and did not realise he had cut over an airfield but it turns out he is based at CDW; so he must be well aware of N07; that is literally at the edge of CDW class D.Why would a pilot cut through a traffic pattern; in the first place; without even being on/monitoring the radio to boot???? Reinforces the need to keep an eye on traffic screen; as pilots cant be counted on to self announce. As he was converging from behind; i would have never seen him otherwise.
