Synopsis

Ramp personnel reported driving on service road causing aircraft pushing from gate to stop. Driver was notified of event.

Narrative

I was assigned to run freight for Flight ABCD HNL. I made my way to ramp and while crossing from the G concourse to the H concourse a plane began to push just as I was passing behind it. I was crossing two active taxi ways at the time. I did not observe an aircraft beacon light; and I did not see any wing walkers when I proceeded to use the service road to cross. These are indicators that I look for; in order to tell that an aircraft may begin to move unexpectedly. My focus while driving across the service road is any other aircraft movement coming in or out of the alley; and any other vehicle traffic that may be in front or behind me. As I passed behind the aircraft on the service road it began to push; but I did not notice at the time as I was focused on the road ahead. I was informed once I returned to Cargo that an aircraft had to abort a pushback. I only realized an incident occurred when management informed me as such when I arrived back at the cargo facility.Cause: As I stated; I am used to seeing wing walkers at the tips of the wings; and the aircraft's beacon light flashing when a plane is getting read to push; and I did not observer either from my vantage point as I made my decision to cross the alleyway.Suggestions: Wing walkers should be clearly identifiable and maintain a good visual reference for the crew and any vehicles letting them know when a push is about to begin. The aircraft's beacon light should be used as a visual reference that pushback is imminent.
