Synopsis
Fractional flight crew reported departing on a runway with another aircraft on final approach resulting in their missed approach. Flight crew continued uneventfully.
Narrative
Rifle airport was extremely busy. While working on getting a release for our hold for release" clearance on 134.95; we were also monitoring ctaf on the other radio. We were released with a short void time of 3 minutes and advise of "one vfr on final…". We looked toward final and saw the aircraft which appeared to be far enough out to safely depart. We announced our departure; entered the runway and heard the other airplane; which turned out to be an Aircraft Y; not what we thought was being described by act as "one vfr (target)"cursing us on ctaf saying they were too close and going around. Detected by radio calls of the other aircraft.Cause: Denver center's failure to advise of of the known type aircraft on final and its distance. Our failure to adequately monitor two radios in a busy uncontrolled environment. Continued uneventfully. Suggestions: Rifle desperately needs a tower; especially during ski season and around major holidays. We should have each monitored one frequency instead of trying to listen to both simultaneously. We shouldn't have been rushed by the short. void time."
Second reporter narrative
Denver Center issues release clearances from this airport and today was extremely busy. We were issued a release takeoff clearance with a 3 minute void if not off the ground. Denver added there was a VFR aircraft on 4 mile final. We visually saw the lights of the aircraft on final and it did look like enough space to depart. We expedited our departure on runway 26 and as we lifted off we heard the aircraft on final go around. Felt terrible another aircraft went around because they felt not enough space was left between our takeoff and there landing.we should have waited and not felt we needed to rush our departure to get out in that 3 minute window. Cause: Not great communication all around with what type of aircraft was on final and how close. We felt rushed to meet the 3 minutes void release time. Having to monitor Unicom and Denver center frequently especially when very busy added to the lack of knowledge of other aircraft. We continued the takeoff without incident and the other aircraft did a go around and continued in traffic pattern without incident. Suggestions: If we had slowed down and not allowed the feeling of being rushed; waited for the other aircraft to identify exactly how close and what type.
