Narrative
ON TKOF FROM FRANKFURT; GERMANY; RWY 18; AT XA37 ON JAN/SAT/93; OUR FLT WAS CLBING OUT AND AT APPROX 200 FT EXPERIENCED VERY LOUD COMPRESSOR STALLS. THE CAPT (PNF) CALLED OUT LOSING L ENG DUE TO DROP IN EPR. WE REQUESTED STRAIGHT CLBOUT AND VECTORS TO RETURN FOR LNDG. WE WERE NOT ENTIRELY SURE OUR PROB WAS WITH THE L ENG SO WE ONLY REDUCED THRUST ON THE L ENG UNTIL FINAL APCH CONFIGN FOR LNDG. A HVY WT LNDG WAS ACCOMPLISHED (364000 LBS). AFTER LNDG; THE EMER WAS TERMINATED AND THE ACFT WAS TAXIED TO A REMOTE PARKING SPACE. ON TURNING INTO PARKING SPACE; ANOTHER COMPANY ACFT RPTED THAT WE HAD A BRAKE FIRE IN THE R GEAR AREA. GND PERSONNEL AND ARPT FIRE CREWS EXTINGUISHED FIRE AND COOLED BRAKE AREA IMMEDIATELY. UPON DEPLANING; THE ONLY INDICATION (VISUALLY) OF ANY POSSIBLE ENG MALFUNCTION WAS RUBBED AREAS ON RUB STRIPS AROUND FAN BLADES ON INSIDE OF L ENG NACELLE. PAX DEPLANED NORMALLY THROUGH FORWARD DOOR AND BOARDED TRANSPORTATION. NO PAX OR CREW INJURIES OCCURRED. NO OTHER ACFT MALFUNCTIONS OCCURRED.
