FLC OF ACR LTT ACFT FAILED TO MAKE AN ACFT MAINT DISCREPANCY LOGBOOK; ENTRY AFTER AN UNSCHEDULED LNDG TO INVESTIGATE A CABIN DOOR WARNING LIGHT.

Narrative

AFTER DEP A CABIN DOOR WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. WE FOLLOWED APPROVED PROC (DEPRESSURIZED) AND LANDED AT NEXT ARPT ALONG RTE OF FLT WITH AGREEMENT OF OUR DISPATCHER. WE RECYCLED THE DOOR AND NOW THE ANNUNCIATOR WORKS PERFECTLY. THE ACFT HAD LOGGED A SERIES OF ANNUNCIATOR GREMLINS THAT WERE SIGNED OFF 'UNABLE TO DUPLICATE.' WE SAW NO REASON TO DELAY A FLT FOR MAINT WHEN THERE WAS NOTHING TO FIX. (EVEN IF THE ANNUNCIATOR STAYED WRONG; IT CAN BE DEFERRED WITHOUT AN INSPECTION.) CREW; MAINT; AND DISPATCH AGREED TO RELEASE. THE FLT AS WAS WITHOUT A LOGBOOK WRITE-UP OR CORRECTIVE ACTIONS. IT OCCURRED TO US LATER THAT EVEN THOUGH NOTHING WAS 'BROKEN' AND THERE WAS NOTHING TO 'FIX' THAT WE SHOULD HAVE WRITTEN UP THE 'INTERMITTENT' ANNUNCIATOR PROB TO EXPLAIN THE UNSCHEDULED LNDG AS WELL AS TO LEAVE AN ADDITIONAL RECORD OF THIS UNRELIABLE SYS FOR POSTERITY. CONTRIBUTING FACTORS: MY KNOWLEDGE OF THE ACFT; 3000 HRS PIC AND 3 YRS AS A CLASSROOM INSTRUCTOR IN THIS ACFT'S SYS. A LOGBOOK FULL OF 'UNABLE TO DUPLICATE' SIGNOFFS. BY THE WAY; AS OF TODAY (NEXT DAY) THE LIGHT NEVER AGAIN DEMONSTRATED ANY INCORRECT INDICATIONS.
