Synopsis
Air carrier technician reported they completed the engine change card and installed the coke bottles on both sides of the fan case. They were later notified by the engine shop that the left coke bottle was out of the channel and there was damage to the fan case.
Narrative
While completing Eng change card; I installed coke bottles on both sides of the engine fan case.Cause: I installed both coke bottles with dog ear facing up; pin/bolts satisfied to each other and nuts satisfied to each other according to the Job Card. I used the safety cable gun. We received pictures from ZZZ engine shop of the LH (Left Hand) coke bottle out of channel of the fan case and damage to the fan case mounting flange. There were 2 bolts with threaded portion sheared off laying in bottom of cover. The RH (Right Hand) coke bottle was fine but there was no safety wire in the picture. Neither the nut side or bolt side. I thought that was weird.Once notified; we checked out our engine cradles and noticed this set of coke bottles were an upgraded design. There were no nuts. There was an 'L' bracket that the pin/bolts thread into so you would only need to safety the bolt heads. We also were able to identify the cap screw in the picture with the sheared bolts. The cap screw is used to secure this 'L' bracket. So that's weird; how did it get mixed in with the damaged engine?
