Synopsis

Helicopter pilot reported a near miss with another aircraft during the initial climb from a non-towered airport. The pilot maneuvered to avoid the other aircraft and passed below the conflicting traffic.

Narrative

I was taking of from an off airport location to the northeast of FD88. During my initial climb out I checked for traffic visually and turned oncourse southwest of FD88. My course took me within 1 mile of the approach end of 28 at FD88. at some point during the flight I was notified that the was an aircraft high and to the left that was turning final for Runway 28. I did not see the aircraft dur the the aircraft overhead breaker panel obstructing my view. I took evasive action by lowering my altitude as low as I safely could and changing my heading to attempt to get a visual on the aircraft. The aircraft passed over at approximately 300+ feet and from what I can tell conducted a go-around.Looking back on this situation; I believe there are 2 main factors that that lead to me being in this situation. The first factor was my visibility being blocked by the overhead breaker panel. i was not able to see any traffic high and to the left of me. The second factor was my decision to fly so close the to the runway end of FD88. In the future these types of situations can be avoided by giving a wider berth to fly in communities and insuring I continuously clear the high left blind spot.
