Narrative
MY FREIGHT ARRIVED ON TIME AFTER MY 8 HR WAIT IN BUF. I GOT MY CLRNC AS USUAL AND THE ATIS. THE GND CTLR ASKED IF I WANTED 23 OR 32. THE WINDS WERE AROUND 310 AT 17 KTS SO I TOOK 32. THERE WAS ALSO AN MDT TAXIING OUT FOR THE SAME RWY; BUT MUCH SLOWER; SO I WENT FIRST. GND CLRED ME TO USE THE TXWYS TO 32. THEN HE CAME BACK ON AND SAID I COULD BACK-TAXI THE RWY AND HOLD IN POS. SO I STARTED DOWN THE RWY AND DID MY CHKLISTS. AT THE SAME TIME; THE GND CTLR; WHO IS ALSO WORKING TWR; CLRS SOMEONE ELSE TO LAND 32. SO I START LOOKING AND SEE ANOTHER ACFT PROBABLY AT LEAST 7 MI OUT. NO PROB. THEN THE CTLR COMES ON THE RADIO AND ASKS IF I WOULD BE READY AT THE END FOR AN IMMEDIATE TKOF. I SAID SURE. SO I TAXI TO THE END AND CALL THAT I AM ROLLING 32; JUST AS HE WAS TELLING THE MDT BEHIND ME TO CROSS 32. HE GETS ON THE RADIO AND TELLS ME TO ABORT TKOF. SO I DO; CLR THE RWY AND REALIZE MY HUGE MISTAKE. HE NEVER CLRED ME. THE MDT NEVER WAS ON THE RWY WITH ME AND I MADE A TXWY ABORT 1/4 DOWN THE RWY. I GUESS IT WAS THE COMBINATION RADIO CHATTER; CHANGE OF PLANS BTWN RWY ORDER; AND TWR AND GND; AND READY TO GO HOME. THE CTLR WAS EXCELLENT ABOUT THE INCIDENT AND NEVER SAID A WORD. BUT IT TAUGHT ME TO LISTEN UP EVEN IF YOU ARE ON THE RWY AND NEVER TAKE FLYING AS ROUTINE AS IT SEEMS SOMETIMES.
