Synopsis

LOSS OF ACFT CTL IN TAXIING TFC.

Narrative

AT APPROX XX30 HRS LCL; I RECEIVED INSTRUCTIONS FROM GND CTL TO 'TAXI TO THE MALTESE CROSS;' WHICH HAPPENS TO BE A MIDFIELD INTXN. I PROCEEDED TO THE MALTESE CROSS VIA THE ONLY AVAILABLE TXWY (HOTEL). ALONG HOTEL THERE WERE SEVERAL ACFT LINED UP AND PARKED. THEY ARE POSITIONED SO THAT WHEN THE ENGS ARE RUNNING; THE BLAST GOES DIRECTLY ACROSS THE TXWY. AS I WAS TAXIING; I DID NOT SEE ANY OF THE ENGS ON OR ROTATING BEACONS ON. AN MDT PULLED IN; ON THE END; NEAR THE MALTESE CROSS AS I WAS TAXIING OUT. THIS ACFT WAS OBSTRUCTED BY ALL THE OTHER (3 OTHER) ACFT. I WAS NOT WARNED BY GND THAT THIS ACFT PULLED IN AND HAD ITS ENGS RUNNING. AS I NEARED THE MDT; I NOTICED THAT ALL 4 ENGS WERE RUNNING AT A VERY HIGH RPM SETTING. I IMMEDIATELY TURNED AILERONS INTO THE WIND AND ATTEMPTED TO STEER AWAY WITH THE RUDDERS. BEFORE I EVEN HAD TIME TO CORRECT THE SIT; I WAS BLASTED FROM THE R. THE R WINGTIP INSTANTANEOUSLY BECAME AIRBORNE; THE L WINGTIP STRUCK THE GND. THE ACFT BEGAN TURNING TO THE L AND EXPOSED THE ELEVATOR. AT THAT POINT; THE PROP STRUCK THE GND AND THE ACFT STARTED TO FLIP OVER. MY STUDENT. WHO WAS ON THE LOW SIDE; JUMPED OUT. THE ACFT RIGHTED ITSELF AND CAME TO A STOP. THE ACFT SUFFERED MINIMAL DAMAGE AND BOTH OCCUPANTS WERE UNHARMED.
