Narrative
I WAS FLYING THE LAST LEG OF THE DAY WITH A FOREIGN AIRLINES FO. I HAVE BEEN FLYING WITH THE FOREIGN AIRLINES STUDENTS FROM UND FOR 2 YRS; AS MY COMPANY WAS CONTRACTED TO GIVE THEM 150 HRS AS SIC IN SMT'S. I WAS LATE AND TRYING TO MAKE UP TIME AS THE ACFT WOULD TURN AROUND WHEN WE LANDED IN GFK. I ASKED TWR FOR POS AND HOLD ON RWY 35 WHICH HE GAVE ME AND I REPEATED. I WAITED FOR MY FO TO FINISH BRIEFING AND WE DID THE CHKLISTS IMMEDIATELY AFTER HE FINISHED AS WE WERE IN POS. MY FO WAS HAVING DIFFICULTY WITH ACFT CTL ON TKOF AND I WAS TRYING TO TEACH HIM TO BRING THE PWR UP SMOOTHLY AND TO LOOK AT HIS TORQUE GAUGES AND OUTSIDE TO THE RWY. I ALLOWED THE FO TO BRING UP THE PWR AS I WAS COACHING HIM. WE HAD JUST CROSSED RWY 31 WHEN THE TWR INFORMED ME THAT WE HAD NOT BEEN CLRED FOR TKOF BUT WE COULD CONTINUE AND FLY RWY HDG. THERE WERE NO OTHER ACFT INVOLVED IN THIS INCIDENT. I BELIEVE THIS PROB WAS TOTALLY MY FAULT. I BELIEVE THAT I WAS AFFECTED BY THE INEXPERIENCE OF MY 300-400 HR FO AND MY NEED TO STAY ON TIME. I THINK THE BIGGER PROB IN THIS TYPE OF FLYING IS THAT IT IS VERY MUCH OF A FLT INSTRUCTOR JOB WITH THESE LOW TIME ABINITIO PLTS. I HAVE FLOWN WITH ALL OF THE FOREIGNERS AND THE FEW AMERICANS THAT ARE PUT ON LINE WITH AN SMT TYPE RATING AND VERY LITTLE EXPERIENCE AND THIS IS MY FIRST NASA RPT. I TAKE FULL RESPONSIBILITY FOR MY FAILURE TO SECURE A TKOF CLRNC REGARDING THIS MATTER. HOWEVER; I THINK IT IS ASKING TOO MUCH OF A CAPT TO FLT INSTRUCT AND TRY AND MAINTAIN AN AIRLINE SCHEDULE. THE WORKLOAD IS TREMENDOUS AND I THINK IT IS A REAL SAFETY ISSUE.
