Synopsis

HDG TRACK DEV IN A NON ADHERENCE TO ATC CLRNC INSTRUCTION. PRE-DEP CLRNC PROCS IN USE.

Narrative

OUR FLT PLAN RTING FOR THE FLT FROM DFW TO ABQ WAS THE FT WORTH 5 DEP TXO MIERA 2 ABQ. THIS INFO WAS LOADED INTO THE FMS BY THE FO DURING PREFLT; AND LATER VERIFIED BY THE CAPT WHEN WE RECEIVED THE PRINTED PRE-DEP CLRNC (PDC) FROM THE GATE AGENT. WE FAILED TO NOTE THAT A CHANGE HAD BEEN MADE IN OUR DEP INSTRUCTIONS. THE ATC CLRNC RTING STATED DFW 274 RADIAL KWICK CTH TXO THEN AS FILED. ON DEP FROM RWY 17R AT DFW; THE CTLR STATED TURN R TO A HDG OF 290 DEGS AND INTERCEPT THE OUTBOUND RADIAL (THE CTLR NEVER STATED WHICH RADIAL TO INTERCEPT; AND ALTHOUGH IT IS NOT REQUIRED; THIS IS USUALLY DONE BY THE CTLRS AT DFW DURING DEP). WE INTERCEPTED THE 262 DEG RADIAL FROM DFW AS IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE WORTH 5 DEP; TXO TRANSITION. THE CTLR ASKED US OUR HDG JUST AFTER WE INTERCEPTED THE RADIAL. WE TOLD HIM 265 DEGS; AND HE SAID; TURN R TO A 300 DEG HDG; YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO INTERCEPT AND FLY THE 274 DEG RADIAL OUTBOUND. WE COMPLIED WITH HIS INSTRUCTIONS AND FLEW THE REMAINDER OF THE FLT AS CLRED. ALTHOUGH WE CLRLY MISSED SEEING THE CHANGE TO OUR ROUTINE ON THE PRE-DEP CLRNC; THERE WERE SEVERAL CONTRIBUTING FACTORS TO THIS OCCURRENCE. THE FLC CHANGED GATES IN DFW AND ARRIVED AT THE DEP GATE FOR OUR FLT AFTER THE SCHEDULED DEP TIME DUE TO BAD WX AT THE DFW ARPT. ARRIVING AT THE GATE; THE CAPT WAS MET BY AN FAA INSPECTOR (MAINT) WHO HAD FLOWN IN ON THIS ACFT FROM THE PREVIOUS FLT; AND WAS VERY DISTURBED ABOUT A MAINT WRITE- UP IN THE LOGBOOK CONCERNING THROTTLE RIGGING OUT OF ALIGNMENT. THE CAPT CONTACTED THE LINE MECH; AND THEN A LEAD MECH AND MAINT SUPVR BECAME INVOLVED. THIS DISCUSSION AND CLARIFICATION TOOK APPROX 15 MINS TO CLR THE ACFT FOR FLT. WHEN THE CAPT FINALLY WAS ABLE TO GET IN HIS SEAT; THE CHKLISTS; CREW BRIEFINGS; AND PAPERWORK REVIEW WERE COMPLETED IN AN EXPEDITIOUS MANNER. WHEN THE CAPT REVIEWED THE PRE-DEP CLRNC; JUST PRIOR TO PUSHBACK; HE INADVERTENTLY LOOKED AT THE FLT PLAN ROUTINE INFO ONLY; AND DID NOT NOTICE THE CHANGE IN THE ATC CLRNC ROUTING.
