POTENTIAL CONFLICT; POSSIBLE NMAC AT NON TWR ARPT.
Narrative
AFTER START-UP I MONITORED THE CTAF AS I TAXIED TO RWY 26. DURING RUNUP AND PRETKOF CHK BOTH MYSELF AND PAX LISTENED FOR TFC IN THE PATTERN AND ESPECIALLY FOR ANYONE ON BASE OR FINAL. AFTER COMPLETING RUNUP AND PRETKOF WE HAD NOT HEARD ANYONE ON BASE OR FINAL. I SWUNG THE NOSE OF THE PLANE AROUND SO WE COULD GET A GOOD LOOK TO FINAL APCH AND NEITHER OF US SAW ANYONE. I THEN ANNOUNCED MY INTENTION TO TAKE THE ACTIVE AND DEPART RWY 26. AFTER LOOKING TO THE E AS I PULLED ON TO THE RWY I APPLIED FULL PWR; AT THIS TIME AN ACFT ANNOUNCED HE WAS GOING AROUND AND PASSED OVERHEAD. I THEN PROCEEDED TO DEPART WITHOUT INCIDENT. WHILE IT IS NOT UNCOMMON FOR A PLT NOT TO ANNOUNCE HIS POS OR SOMETIMES TO BE ON THE WRONG FREQ; I WAS VERY CONCERNED THAT BOTH MYSELF AND MY PAX FAILED TO SEE THIS PLANE. I AM CONCERNED THAT THE POSSIBILITY EXISTS THAT A PLANE ON A LOW APCH MIGHT NOT BE SEEN FROM THE AREA AT THE E END OF THE ARPT. PERHAPS A SIGN WARNING OF THIS POSSIBILITY SHOULD BE PLACED AT END OF THE TXWY.
