INFLT ENCOUNTER WITH CLR AIR TURB PRODUCES PERSONAL INJURY TO PAX THAT WENT UNRPTED BY CABIN ATTENDANT.

Narrative

DURING OUR DSCNT TO ABQ; WE ENCOUNTERED ABOUT 5 SECONDS OF MODERATE CLR AIR TURB. THE REMAINDER OF THE FLT HAD A MIXTURE OF OCCASIONAL LIGHT TURB AND LIGHT CHOP. I WAS NOT INFORMED OF ANY PROBS CAUSED BY THIS MODERATE CLR AIR TURB. AFTER ARR IN ABQ; I TALKED WITH 2 OF THE FLT ATTENDANTS AND NO PROBS WERE MENTIONED. WHILE IN THE JETWAY AREA; I BRIEFED THE OUTBOUND CAPT ABOUT THE ACFT STATUS AND THE WX. AS THE PAX DEPLANED; I DID NOT HEAR ANY NEGATIVE REMARKS CONCERNING OUR FLT. LATER; WHILE WALKING TO THE HOTEL VAN; A DEADHEAD FLT ATTENDANT MENTIONED THAT THE TURB DURING DSCNT HAD CAUSED THE 2 FLT ATTENDANTS IN THE REAR GALLEY TO HIT THE SIDE OF THE ACFT. SHE ALSO SAID THAT AN OVERHEAD BIN OPENED; A BRIEFCASE HAD FALLEN OUT; AND THAT A GENTLEMAN HAD BEEN STRUCK ON THE CHEEK BY THE CASE. I LEFT THE ACFT AND JETWAY AREA UNAWARE OF ANY OF THESE DIFFICULTIES CONCERNING THE FLT. MODERATE TURB HAD BEEN FORECAST FOR THE ABQ AREA. PRIOR TO THE PAX BOARDING IN PHX; I BRIEFED THE 'A' FLT ATTENDANT ABOUT POSSIBLE TURB DEPARTING PHX AND THAT WE COULD ALSO EXPECT SOME MODERATE TURB DSNDING INTO ABQ. I TOLD HER THAT I WOULD SIT THEM DOWN EARLY AND TO BE REAL CAREFUL. PRIOR TO TKOF; I BRIEFED THE PAX OVER THE PA THAT WE COULD EXPECT SOME BUMPS DEPARTING PHX; A SMOOTH FLT AT OUR CRUISE ALT; AND SOME BUMPS DSNDING INTO ABQ. PRIOR TO DSCNT; I AGAIN BRIEFED THE PAX OVER THE PA TO EXPECT SOME BUMPS DSNDING TO ABQ. I THEN CALLED THE FLT ATTENDANTS ON THE INTERPHONE TO CLEAN UP AND SIT DOWN DUE TO THE EXPECTED TURB. I PLANNED AND FLEW TURB PENETRATION SPDS DURING THE ENTIRE DSCNT TO ABQ. I COMMUNICATED OFTEN WITH THE CABIN CREW. UNFORTUNATELY; THE CABIN CREW DID NOT COM IN RETURN. 2-WAY COM IS VITAL!
