Narrative
AFTER GOING AROUND THE PATTERN WITH A LCL CFI FLYING MY AIRPLANE; I DROPPED HIM ON THE RAMP; RADIOED THAT I WAS DEPARTING RWY 25; AND I TOOK OFF. I CLBED WITH REDUCED PWR (FOR NOISE ABATEMENT) STAYING IN THE PATTERN TURNING XWIND AND DOWNWIND; RPTING THE DOWNWIND. ABOUT 3/4 OF THE WAY DOWN THE RWY I MADE ANOTHER L TURN; THUS FLYING ACROSS THE RWY AND THE RAMP. THIS TURN WAS NOT RPTED. AS I CROSSED THE RAMP I WAVED TO MY INSTRUCTOR AND INCREASED THE ANGLE OF CLB. AT THIS POINT; I WAS FLYING ON A HDG OF ABOUT 320 DEGS PLUS OR MINUS. THE GLARE OF THE SUN ON MY WINDSHIELD MADE IT DIFFICULT FOR ME TO SEE IN THE AREA TO MY L AND STRAIGHT AHEAD. SUDDENLY; YELLOW AND WHITE SMA APPEARED IN MY WINDSHIELD. I DOVE BENEATH HIM AND TRIED TO CALL HIM ON THE UNICOM FREQ. HE DID NOT ACKNOWLEDGE MY CALL. I TURNED TO A WESTERLY HDG AND WATCHED HIM LAND ON RWY 25 AND TAXI TO THE RAMP (WITHOUT COM). I FELT THAT A CONFRONTATION AT THIS POINT WOULD BE MEANINGLESS; SO I DEPARTED THE AREA AND FLEW HOME. IT TURNED OUT THAT THERE WERE 2 PEOPLE IN THE SMA (A STUDENT AND A CFI). THIS INCIDENT WAS CLR CUT FAILURE TO 'SEE AND AVOID;' AND 'TO COM POS AT AN UNCTLED ARPT.' BOTH PLTS WERE LAX AND LUCKY.
