CAPTS LEG; LNDG DENVER; ILS RWY 36 APCH. RWY 8L IN SITE 3-5 MI OUT. CLRED TO LAND RWY 8L. CAPT DID NOT WIDEN OUT BASE LEG. WAS TRYING TO LAND AT THE END OF THE RWY SO AS TO MAKE THE FIRST OR SECOND TURNOFF. CAPT FLEW OVER ANOTHER ACFT TAXIING NEAR THE APCH END OF RWY 8L AND CLRED IT BY MAYBE 50 FT. APCH INVOLVED 20-30 DEG BANK NEAR THE SURFACE. ACFT LANDED ON L MAIN GEAR FIRST RATHER HARD (NO DAMAGE). JUST PRIOR TO LNDG; WHILE IN THE R TURN; R WING TIP CAME CLOSE TO THE GND (20-100 FT ESTIMATED). LNDG OCCURRED IN THE AREA OF THE DISPLACED THRESHOLD; L OF CTRLINE. STALL WARNING HORN WAS SOUNDING. CAPT STATED THAT HE USED POOR JUDGEMENT AND SHOULD HAVE WIDENED OUT HIS BASE LEG (AS I HAD SUGGESTED TO HIM WHEN WE WERE CLRED TO LAND). HE ALSO SAID HE SHOULD NOT HAVE TRIED TO MAKE THE LNDG AT THE APCH END OF RWY 8L SINCE THERE WAS PLENTY OF GOOD RWY AHEAD. CAPT STATED HE HAD A HARD TIME SEEING RWY 8L APCH END FROM HIS SIDE OF THE COCKPIT. CAPT WAS UPGRADED FROM FO ABOUT 1 1/2 - 2 MONTHS AGO.
