PVT PLT OF AN SMA SEL ACFT BOUNCED DURING LNDG AND COLLAPSED THE NOSEWHEEL.

Narrative

TOUCHDOWN ON RWY 2 ON MAIN LNDG GEARS. SLIGHT BOUNCE EXPERIENCED. ADDED ADDITIONAL PWR AND MAINTAINED YOKE- BACK POS. ON SUBSEQUENT TOUCHDOWN THE NOSE GEAR CONTACTED RWY FIRST AND APPARENTLY COLLAPSED WITH NOSE DSNDING THROUGH HORIZON. REFLEX ACTION WAS TO KEEP YOKE-BACK COMPLETELY; WHICH RESULTED IN SUBSEQUENT BOUNCE. DIRECTIONAL CTL WAS MAINTAINED. ACFT SLOWED. PROP TOUCHED RWY AND ACFT STOPPED WITH SPINNER AND LOWER FRONT COWLING TOUCHING RWY. FUEL AND SWITCHES -- INCLUDING ALL ELECTRICAL SWITCHES -- TURNED OFF. PAX AND PLT EXITED ACFT. PRIOR TO EXITING; PLT CALLED ON UNICOM FOR EMER VEHICLE TO RESPOND AND REMOVED FIRE EXTINGUISHER FROM RACK. NO FIRE OR SMOKE. EMER VEHICLE ARRIVED WITHIN 3 OR 4 MINS. ACFT LIFTED BY SPINNER ON FORKLIFT AND TOWED TO TIE-DOWN. USE OF FULL FLAPS MAY HAVE CONTRIBUTED TO NOSE LOW POS WHEN PWR APPLIED AFTER INITIAL BOUNCE. DENSITY ALT OF 8400 FT MAY ALSO HAVE CONTRIBUTED TO RELATIVELY UNRESPONSIVE ACFT WHEN PWR APPLIED TO KEEP NOSE UP AND TO EFFECT GENTLE TOUCHDOWN.
