SMA LANDS LONG AND BLOWS A TIRE DUE TO HVY PREMATURE BRAKING.
Narrative
WHILE FLYING TO 01G FOR A FLY-IN BREAKFAST; UNICOM KEPT ANNOUNCING THAT RWY 28 WAS THE ACTIVE RWY. WHILE FLYING UPWIND I NOTICED THAT THE WINDSOCK WAS AT XWIND BUT THAT 28 WAS STILL ACTIVE. AS I ENTERED FINAL I ENCOUNTERED A STRONG TAILWIND. I LANDED APPROX 1000 FT DOWN THE RWY AT A SLIGHT INCREASED AIRSPD (75-85 MPH). AS I LANDED I APPLIED THE BRAKES TOO HARD AND BURNT THE TIRES. AT THE END OF THE ROLLOUT MY R TIRE BLEW AS I CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP. I NOTIFIED UNICOM THAT I HAD A FLAT TIRE AND WAS ABLE TO CLR THE RWY. THERE WAS NO DAMAGE TO THE ACFT. AT THIS TIME UNICOM ANNOUNCED TO ALL PLANES TO DISCONTINUE USING RWY 28 AND START USING RWY 10. I DID NOT ABORT THE LNDG AS OTHER ACFT WERE IN THE UPWIND AND XWIND PATTERN. I FEEL THAT THIS COULD HAVE BEEN AVERTED WITH A CLOSER WATCH OF WIND CONDITIONS BY UNICOM; AND ALSO IF I HAD LANDED NEAR THE NUMBERS AND AT A LOWER SPD. AT THIS TIME I HAVE CONTACTED A CFI AND WE ARE GOING TO DO DUAL FLT TRAINING ON LNDGS TO INCREASE MY FLT SKILLS. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: CALLBACK PRODUCED NOTHING NOT ALREADY IN THE RPT. RPTR REITERATED NO DAMAGE AND ACFT DID NOT CLOG THE RWY.
