Narrative
ON JUN/XX/93 I WAS ORDERED BY MY SUPVR TO DRIVE TO COLUMBUS; OH; TO DEFER GND AND ROLL SPOILERS ON AN MDT. I PERFORMED GND RUNS TO OPERATE SPOILERS. ALL SYS WORKED NORMAL. AFTER PHONE CONVERSATION WITH SUPVR I DEFERRED GND AND ROLL SPOILERS (GND MODE) SYS PER MEL AND COMPLETED ALL REQUIRED MAINT ACTIONS. THE REASON THE DEFERRAL WAS MADE; WE DID NOT WANT THE SAME PROB TO ARISE AGAIN ON NEXT FLT. ON JUN/ZZ/93 ACFT WAS SCHEDULED IN DETROIT FOR MAINT. I WAS ASSIGNED TO WORK ON SAME DEFERRAL. AFTER FURTHER INVESTIGATION FOUND THAT DEFERRAL WAS NOT GOOD FOR THIS PROB. THE PLT'S WRITE-UP WAS 'ON TAXI FROM GATE IN CMH ROLL SPOILER OUTBOARD HYD CAUTION LIGHT ILLUMINATED; CAUTION LIGHT DIFFICULT TO CANCEL.' AFTER REVIEWING LOGBOOK FOUND THAT OTHER MAINT PERSONNEL HAD CLRED WRITE-UP ON MORNING OF JUN/ZZ/93. I THINK A TOTAL LACK OF COM STARTING WITH THE PLT RELAYING WRITE-UP TO MAINT CTL; AND THE CTLR RELAYING IT TO THE MAINT SUPVR; AND SUPVR TO MECH. I FEEL THE VERBAL COMS ARE INSUFFICIENT. FROM NOW ON; PLTS SHOULD FAX A COPY OF DISCREPANCY TO MAINT CTL AND MAINT CTL SHOULD FAX A COPY TO THE SUPVR SO THAT THE DISCREPANCY CAN BE ASSESSED BEFORE SENDING A MECH TO PERFORM OUTSTATION MAINT.
