Narrative
ON JUN/TUE/93 I WAS TOLD TO SEND AN A&P TO COLUMBUS; OH; TO FIX OR DEFER THE ROLL SPOILERS ON AN MDT. I WAS TOLD THAT THE PROB WAS THAT THE ROLL SPOILER OUTBOARD GND CAUTION LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. I SENT AN A&P DOWN TO CHK OUT AND DEFER THE SYS. HE WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE ANY PROB BUT WE; BY PHONE CONVERSATION; DECIDED TO DEFER THE SYS IN CASE THE PLTS HAD A PROB ON THE MORNING DEP. I DID NOT WANT THE PLANE TO BE STUCK THERE. THE PLANE OVERNIGHTED IN DTW ON JUN/THU/93. WHEN REVIEWING THE LOGBOOK I DISCOVERED I HAD BEEN GIVEN MISINFO FROM MAINT CTL ABOUT WHICH LIGHT HAD ILLUMINATED. THE ROLL SPOILER OUTBOARD HYD LIGHT WAS THE LIGHT THAT ACTUALLY WAS WRITTEN UP AND THIS WOULD NOT BE SOMETHING YOU WOULD DEFER. THE HYD CAUTION LIGHT PROB HAD ALREADY BEEN FIXED BY THIS TIME. THIS PROB WAS CAUSED BY A LACK OF COM BTWN THE PLT AND MAINT CTL. THE WAY TO CORRECT THIS TYPE OF PROB WOULD BE TO REQUIRE A PLT TO FAX ANY WRITE-UPS THAT HAPPEN AT AN OUT-STATION TO THE MAINT BASE INSTEAD OF A VERBAL RADIO OR PHONE CALL.
