ATX PLT FALSIFIED HIS TRAINING RECORD WHEN HE SIGNED THE TRAINING RECORD THAT ALL SPECIFIED TRAINING HAD BEEN RECEIVED EVEN THOUGH IT HAD NOT.

Narrative

THIS SIT DID NOT OCCUR IN AN ACFT. IN FACT; IT DID NOT INVOLVE ACFT OP AT ALL. I AM WRITING ABOUT THIS SIT BECAUSE I AM SURPRISED HOW NAIVE I WAS IN SIGNING MY TRAINING RECORDS. I WAS ABOUT TO TAKE AN ORAL FOR A PART 135 CHKRIDE WITH A DESIGNATED EXAMINER AND AN FAA INSPECTOR. WHEN THE DESIGNATED EXAMINER EXAMINED MY TRAINING RECORDS; IT WAS FOUND THAT I DID NOT HAVE PROPER INSTRUCTOR SIGN-OFFS. THIS FLAGGED THE FAA INSPECTOR TO LOOK AT MY TRAINING RECORDS MORE CLOSELY. DURING A DISCUSSION; I HAD TOLD THE INSPECTOR THAT I DID NOT PHYSICALLY DISCHARGE A FIRE EXTINGUISHER DURING TRAINING; HOWEVER; I WAS INSTRUCTED IN THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF FIRE; DIFFERENT CLASSES OF FIRE EXTINGUISHERS; AND THE USE OF THE FIRE EXTINGUISHER WAS DEMONSTRATED. THE INSPECTOR SAID THAT I SHOULD HAVE PHYSICALLY DISCHARGED AN EXTINGUISHER. MY PROB WAS THAT I HAD SIGNED MY TRAINING FORM TO INDICATE THAT I HAD SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED THE FIRE EXTINGUISHING PHASE OF THE TRAINING. WHEN I SIGNED MY TRAINING FORM; I WAS UNDER THE IMPRESSION THAT WE HAD RECEIVED THE PROPER TRAINING IN FIRE EXTINGUISHING. IN THE DISCUSSION WITH THE FAA INSPECTOR; IT WAS MENTIONED THAT I SHOULD HAVE NOT SIGNED THE TRAINING FORM BECAUSE I WAS NOT PROPERLY TRAINED. THE INSPECTOR IS NOW THREATENING TO FILE VIOLATION PROCEEDINGS AGAINST THE CHIEF PLT FOR FALSIFICATION OF DOCUMENTS AND IT IS POSSIBLE THAT I WILL BE INVOLVED. TO ME; THIS SIT IS 1 MORE EXAMPLE OF HOW A PLT'S LICENSE IS CONTINUALLY THREATENED WITH A VIOLATION. I HAD HONESTLY SIGNED A TRAINING FORM TO INDICATE THAT I HAD RECEIVED INSTRUCTION AND LATER FOUND IT WAS NOT THE CORRECT TRAINING. IS THIS FALSIFICATION OF DOCUMENTS IN THE EYES OF THE FAA? I DO NOT KNOW. MORAL OF THE STORY -- KNOW WHAT YOU ARE SIGNING.
