FO OF AN MDT JET DID NOT MEET CURRENCY REQUIREMENTS OR HAVE A CURRENT MEDICAL CERTIFICATE.

Narrative

WHILE FLYING AT FL390 I WAS TALKING TO MY COPLT. I ASKED HIM WHEN HE LAST FLEW THE MDT. HE TOLD ME 1 1/2 YRS AGO. I THEN ASKED ABOUT HIS CURRENCY TO BE LEGAL COPLT. HE SAID IF HE GOT CAUGHT HE WOULD PENCIL IN TIME IN LOGBOOK. I WAS TOLD BY THE OWNER HE WAS CURRENT AND LEGAL. WHEN WE LANDED AT CYYL; I FURTHER INVESTIGATED HIS CURRENCY AND FOUND OUT THAT HE MAY NOT EVEN HAVE A LEGAL MEDICAL. I THEN DECIDED TO NOT FLY WITH THIS INDIVIDUAL AND PICKED UP A COMMERCIAL AIRLINE BACK TO MEM. I RESTATE TO THE FACT THAT I WAS UNAWARE OF THE FACT THAT THIS MAN WAS NOT CURRENT IN THE ACFT OR MAY NOT HAVE CURRENT MEDICAL UNTIL WE WERE AIRBORNE. I ALSO THINK THAT THIS MAN HAS NOT HAD A BFR SINCE 1989. I ALSO CONTACTED OWNER WITH MY CONCERNS. OWNER SAID DON'T WORRY ABOUT IT. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: RPTR STATED THAT HE DID NOTIFY THE FAA WHICH RESULTED IN THE ACFT BEING 'RAMP' INSPECTED AND THE PLT IN QUESTION CITED FOR A CRIMINAL ACTION OF FALSIFICATION OF HIS AIRMAN'S MEDICAL CERTIFICATE AND NOT MEETING RECENCY PLT EXPERIENCE AND TEST REQUIREMENTS. HE BELIEVES THAT ALL CAPTS SHOULD CHK TO ASSURE THAT THEIR COPLTS (FO) MEET APPROPRIATE REQUIREMENTS PRIOR TO FLT.
