EMER OFF ARPT LNDG PERFORMED AFTER SMA'S ENG IS ABOUT TO FAIL ACCOUNT NO OIL PRESSURE NO OIL.
Narrative
HAD SUDDEN ENG STOPPAGE DUE TO LOW OIL PRESSURE. AFTER OBSERVING NORMAL PRESSURE 1 1/2 MINS PRIOR TO SEEING NO OIL PRESSURE; I REALIZED AN EMER LNDG WOULD BE NECESSARY. I WAS ALREADY IN CONTACT WITH PTK ATC. HAVING CONTACTED THEM 15 OUT OF PTK PRIOR TO ATTEMPTING TO LAND THERE; I INFORMED THEM AT APPROX 10 MI OUT OF LOSS OF OIL PRESSURE. SHORTLY AFTER THAT; REALIZED THAT I WOULDN'T BE ABLE TO MAKE IT TO THE ARPT AND UPDATED THEM TO THAT FACT. AS THERE WERE NO IDEAL LNDG SPOTS NEARBY (A SWAMP; TREES) A MAJOR DIVIDED HWY SEEMED THE BEST PLACE TO LAND. AFTER CHKING TFC FLOW; I BEGAN TO BLEND IN BTWN 2 SPACED OUT VEHICLES WHILE WATCHING FOR PWR LINES AND OTHER OBSTRUCTIONS AFTER MY TURN TO FINAL. BECAUSE OF MY LOW WING PLANE; I COULD NO LONGER OBSERVE SECOND VEHICLE THAT I LANDED IN FRONT OF. I TOUCHED THE ROOF OF THIS VEHICLE CAUSING MINOR DAMAGE TO ITS ROOF (A VAN) THEN PROCEEDED TO LAND AS PLANNED BEHIND THE OTHER CAR. LIGHT DAMAGE WAS EXPERIENCED TO MY PLANE. HORIZ STAB BENT. WHEEL PANT DAMAGED. 1 OCCUPANT OF VAN UNHURT. 3 PERSONS IN PLANE ALL WERE UNHURT AS WELL. FURTHER INVESTIGATION OF ENG REVEALED OIL QUICK DRAIN HAD COME OUT. ENG HAD LESS THAN 10 HRS SINCE MAJOR OVERHAUL AND I FEEL THAT THIS COULD HAVE NOT BEEN PROPERLY TIGHTENED DURING OVERHAUL.
