Narrative
WHILE ABEAM APCH END ON L DOWNWIND RWY 32L OMA ARPT ON A VISUAL APCH WITH TWR; A LINE OF TSTMS ROLLED IN ON THE FIELD FROM THE W. TWR RPTED WIND SHEAR ALERT AND AIR CREW INITIATED MISSED APCH PROCS; L TURN; 140 DEG HDG; CLB TO 3000 FT. WHILE EXECUTING L TURN; ACFT ENCOUNTERED HVY RAIN; MODERATE TURB; AND ACFT WIND SHEAR ALERTS. WIND SHEAR PROCS WERE APPLIED AND THE ACFT LEFT THE VICINITY OF THE WIND SHEAR PASSING 5000 FT MSL. CALL TO APCH WAS MADE AND ACFT WAS ASSIGNED 10000 FT MSL. SUBSEQUENT DIVERT TO MCI UNEVENTFUL. INABILITY TO DETERMINE HOW CLOSE TSTMS WERE TO ARPT AT NIGHT ON VISUAL APCH WAS THE MAIN CONTRIBUTING FACTOR IN EXECUTING A LATE MISSED APCH. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 246066: ACFT CLB COULD NOT BE STOPPED AT ISSUED MISSED APCH ALT (3000 FT MSL). PASSING 4500 FT MSL WE RECEIVED CLRNC TO 10000 FT MSL. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 245806: WE WERE CLRED VISUAL APCH WITH TWR. THEY RPTED WIND 270 DEGS AT 3 KTS. HOWEVER; THEY ALSO SAID OFFUT AFB HAD JUST RPTED A GUST TO 40 KTS. WE WERE TURNING BASE WHEN TWR ADVISED US OF A WIND SHEAR ALERT AND GAVE SEVERAL BOUNDARY WIND VALUES. WE RECEIVED A WIND SHEAR WARNING AND EXPERIENCED A VERY STRONG UPDRAFT. THE FO CONTACTED DEP CTL; ADVISED THEM OF OUR ALT AND RECEIVED CLRNC TO CONTINUE CLB TO 10000 FT MSL. OUR COMPANY CONDUCTS WIND SHEAR ENCOUNTER TRAINING DURING INITIAL/RECURRENT TRAINING. I FEEL THIS TRAINING PROVED HIGHLY RELEVANT/VALUABLE AS ALL 3 OF US WERE POSITIVELY INVOLVED AND FOCUSED BEFORE; DURING; AND AFTER THE WIND SHEAR EPISODE.
