AN ACR LGT DUMPED FUEL TO RETURN LAND WITH A HYD PROB.
Narrative
I WAS ADVISED BY THE SO THAT THE L MAIN GEAR BRAKES WERE WARM. I DEPLANED AND INSPECTED BOTH GEARS. THE R GEAR WAS ALMOST COOL; HOWEVER; THE L MAIN WAS WARM. I WAS ABLE TO LAY MY HANDS ON THE INSIDES OF BOTH TIRES UP AGAINST THE RIM WITHOUT DISCOMFORT. THIS INDICATED THAT THE BRAKES/TIRES WERE NOT 'HOT;' SIMPLY WARM. I MENTIONED TO THE MECH ON BOARD THAT THE L MAIN GEAR WAS WARM AND HE SAID HE WOULD HAVE IT CHKED. I HEARD NOTHING MORE ABOUT IT. TKOF ON RWY 35R AT CLOSE TO MAX GROSS TKOF WT WAS UNEVENTFUL TO 125 KTS WHEN A VIBRATION WAS FELT. TKOF WAS CONTINUED; ACFT ROTATED AT APPROX 140 KTS. ACFT BECAME AIRBORNE AND I ASKED THE FO TO ASK THE TWR IF THEY HAD OBSERVED ANYTHING UNUSUAL. THE TWR ADVISED IN THE NEGATIVE. THE GEAR WAS RAISED UNEVENTFULLY AT ABOUT 800 FT AGL. 'B' SYS HYD LOW PRESSURE LIGHTS ILLUMINATED ON BOTH THE FORWARD PANEL AND THE SO PANEL. WE WERE ON DEP CTL AT THIS TIME. I TOLD THE FO AND SO OF MY INTENTIONS TO RETURN AND LAND. I ASKED THE FO TO CALL DEP CTL FOR A DUMP HDG. THE FO DECLARED AN EMER; RELAYED OUR DESIRE TO RETURN AND ASKED FOR A DUMP HDG. DEP SAID WE WERE CLRED TO DUMP TO 10000 LBS. I MADE A PA ADVISING THE PAX OF OUR SIT. I TOLD THE FSM SHE HAD 15 MINS TO PREPARE FOR LNDG AND THAT WE WERE NOT ANTICIPATING AN EMER EVAC. WE REQUESTED A FLY-BY TO LET THE TWR VIEW THE MAIN GEAR. WE WERE ADVISED THAT OUR #2 TIRE WAS SHREDDED; OUR #1 TIRE; INTACT. WE COULD SEE THAT THE EMER EQUIP WAS IN PLACE; AND WERE CLRED FOR A VISUAL APCH. LNDG WAS UNEVENTFUL. USING MODERATE REVERSE THRUST; ACFT REACHED TAXI SPD WITH APPROX 2000 FT REMAINING AND WAS BROUGHT TO A HALT IN THE LAST 1000 FT. WHEN THE THROTTLES WERE RETURNED TO FORWARD THRUST; THE ACFT BEGAN TO ROLL FORWARD AND THE PNEUMATIC BRAKE SYS WAS USED TO PARK THE ACFT ON THE RWY. THE FIRE TRUCKS WERE AT THE ACFT. THERE WAS NO FIRE. THE COMPANY ADVISED US THAT WE WOULD BE TOWED FROM THE RWY AND THE PAX BUSSED TO THE TERMINAL; AS ANOTHER ACFT WAS BEING READIED FOR THE FLT TO LAX. THE AFT AIR STAIRS WERE LOWERED AT XC48. THE PAX WERE DEPLANED WITHOUT INCIDENT WITH 1 HANDICAPPED WOMAN CARRIED FROM THE ACFT BY 2 FIREMEN. THE CREW RETURNED TO THE TERMINAL WITH THE PAX. FLT ATTENDANTS WERE REPLACED FOR THE CONTINUATION AND THE FLC PREPARED FOR DEP. IN THE MEANTIME; I CONTACTED DEN CHIEF PLT AND DISCUSSED THE INCIDENT WITH HIM. A CAPT'S IRREGULARITY RPT WAS FILED AND THE FLT CONTINUED TO LAX.
