Narrative
WE WERE ON AN AIR AMBULANCE FLT FROM ALB TO FXE. WE WERE CLRED DIRECT TO FXE APPROX 20 MINS AFTER TKOF FROM ALBANY; NY. WE WERE IN THE ACFT APPROX 2 HRS 15 MINS WHEN WE WERE TOLD (BY ZMA) TO TURN L TO 140 DEGS DURING THE DSCNT FROM 10000 FT TO 11000 FT (WE HAD BEEN ON APPROX A 200 DEG BEARING DIRECT TO FXE AT THE TIME) AND INTERCEPT THE MRLIN 2 ARR TO FXE. THE ARR IS: INTERCEPT THE 200 DEG BEARING TO ANDREW NDB. BECAUSE OF THE TSTM AND LIGHTNING ACTIVITY IN THE AREA; THE ADF NEEDLE WAS MAKING WIDE SWINGS; SO IT WAS DIFFICULT TO JUDGE THE 209 DEG BEARING EXACTLY. THE COPLT WAS FLYING THE ACFT AND I WAS MONITORING THE NAV AS BEST WE COULD UNDER THE TSTM AND LIGHTNING SIT. WE HEARD CTR TELL ANOTHER ACFT TO TURN L IMMEDIATELY; AND THEN CTR TOLD US TO EXPEDITE OUR DSCNT AND TURN L TO 080 DEGS; WHICH WE DID RIGHT AWAY. THEN CTR ASKED US IF WE WERE TOLD TO INTERCEPT THE 042 DEG RADIAL OFF FLL. I REPLIED 'NEGATIVE; WE WERE TOLD TO INTERCEPT THE MRLIN 2 ARR.' THE 042 DEG RADIAL IS NOT DEPICTED ON THE MRLIN 2 ARR. IN FACT; THE FLL VOR IS NOT DEPICTED ON THE ARR. THE BEST MY COPLT AND I COULD FIGURE WAS PERHAPS; BEFORE ANDREW VOR CAME ON THE AIR; THERE MAY HAVE BEEN AN ARR TO FXE THAT DEPICTED THE 042 DEG RADIAL OFF OF FLL AND ATC WAS CONFUSED AND THOUGHT WE WOULD FLY THE OLD ARR. WHATEVER; WHAT I SHOULD HAVE DONE IS REQUEST OUR LIFE GUARD PRIORITY; AND CONTINUE TO FLY DIRECT FO FXE. THEN THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN NO CONFUSION ON ATC'S PART.
