ACR WDB PIC 'TAKES IT AROUND' IN A GAR PROC WHEN THE CTR GEAR FAILS TO INDICATE DOWN AND LOCKED.
Narrative
ACFT CAME FROM THE MAINT HANGAR BEFORE WE TOOK OUR FLT. SHIP CAME TO THE GATE WITH THE CTR GEAR DOWN BUT THE CTR GEAR SWITCH IN THE UP PINNED POS. THAT WAS MISSED ON THE PREFLT. AFTER GEAR EXTENSION THE CTR GEAR GREEN; DOWN AND LOCKED LIGHT DID NOT COME ON. WE DID A GAR ASKING THE TWR TO CHK IF OUR CTR GEAR WAS RETRACTED AND THEY SAID YES. AFTER THE GAR THE SWITCH WAS FOUND IN THE UP PINNED POS. SWITCH WAS THEN PUT IN THE DOWN POS AND THE CTR GEAR EXTENDED; A NORMAL APCH AND LNDG WAS MADE. NO LOGBOOK WRITE-UP BECAUSE THERE WAS NO MALFUNCTION ONLY A BREAKDOWN IN PREFLT. HUMAN FACTORS HAD A LOT TO DO WITH THIS INCIDENT; BUT I'M NOT SURE HOW TO EXPLAIN THE PROB. THE CAPT; ME; NOT A GREAT COMMUNICATOR; I EXPECT CREW MEMBERS TO KNOW AND DO THEIR JOB OR JOBS WITHOUT BEING TOLD OR REMINDED. FO VERY CAPABLE BUT WANTING TO DO THE CAPT'S AND THE SO'S JOB. THE SO MAY BE A LITTLE BELOW STANDARD AND THE SLACK WAS TRIED TO BE PICKED UP BY THE FO. THIS; I THINK; LED TO THE BREAKDOWN IN THE CREW. AND I AS THE CAPT DID NOT STOP THAT. AFTER A SHORT DISCUSSION THE REST OF THE FLT WENT AS A NORMAL CREW.
