Narrative

IN SUM: RPTR SUBMITTED HIS COMPANY'S FLC SCHEDULE FOR THE MONTHS OF JUNE AND AUGUST 1993 TO SHOW THE METHOD USED TO FILL FLT SCHEDULES OF FLC MEMBERS ON VACATION BY NEWLY QUALIFIED PLTS AND WHAT IT SUBSEQUENTLY CAUSES TO THE SCHEDULE OF 'JUNIOR' PLTS HOLDING SO-CALLED 'HARD LINES.' IN ADDITION; GUIDELINES ARE SET FORTH FOR CREW MEMBERS WITH MIL COMMITMENTS! CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: RPTR STATED THAT HE SUBMITTED THIS RPT TO BRING TO OUR ATTN THE DIFFICULT CREW SCHEDULE USED BY HIS COMPANY. THE SCHEDULE CAUSES GREAT STRESS AND FATIGUE AMONG HIM AND OTHER CREW MEMBERS TO THE POINT THAT MANY ARE QUITTING WHO HAVE 9 OR MORE YRS WITH THE COMPANY. HE DOES NOT KNOW HOW MUCH MORE HE CAN TAKE! HE IS NOT GETTING PROPER SLEEP OR FOOD DUE TO THE SHORT TURN-AROUNDS. HOWEVER; THE SCHEDULES ARE ARRANGED TO MEET THE FARS FOR DUTY TIME. THEREFORE; HE AND THE OTHER PLTS HAVE NO RECOURSE TO REFUSE TRIPS DUE TO FATIGUE AS THEY WILL BE 'FIRED' BY THE COMPANY! HE IS NOT A UNION MAN; BUT BELIEVES THAT A STRONG UNION IN THIS INSTANCE IS THE ONLY POSSIBLE HOPE FOR GETTING RELIEF!
