MLG TAXIES ACROSS RAMP HOLD LINE.

Narrative

HOW THE PROB AROSE: THE DATE IS A FRIDAY AFTERNOON. OUR DEP HAS BEEN DELAYED AND WE ARE TRYING TO GET BACK ON SCHEDULE. FOR SOME REASON; BOTH MIL AND CIVILIAN PLTS HAVE CHOSEN THIS BUSY; HAZY AFTERNOON TO PRACTICE APCHS. CONTRIBUTING FACTORS: THE ACFT GUIDE GAVE ME THE SALUTE FROM BLOCKS; FOLLOWED BY THE SIGNAL TO TURN R; THEN WAVED AND WALKED AWAY. I QUERIED THE FO; 'CLR RIGHT?' HE LOOKED R AND REPLIED; 'CLR RIGHT.' I SPOOLED UP; STARTED MOVING; THEN BEGAN A TURN TO THE R. I THEN COMMANDED; 'TAXI CLRNC; TAXI CHKS.' NOTHING HAS BEEN HEARD ON THE TWR FREQ; WHICH ALSO HANDLES GND CTL; UP TO THIS POINT. THE FO CALLS THE TWR FOR TAXI; STILL LOOKING R. AT THE PRECISE SECOND HE FINISHES; A VFR PLT CUTS OUT ANY REPLY BY CHKING IN WITH POS AND INTENTIONS AND THE TWR REPLIES. THIS HAS TAKEN LONG ENOUGH THAT I AM ALMOST OVER THE RED LINE MARKING THE EXIT FROM THE RAMP AREA ONTO TXWY A. THIS LINE HAS BEEN DISPLACED TOWARD THE RAMP AREA AS TXWY A HAS BEEN DISPLACED DURING CONSTRUCTION. MY CHOICE IS NOW A PANIC STOP OR TO CONTINUE ROLLING SLOWLY. SINCE I AM CLR; INSTEAD OF THROWING THE FLT ATTENDANTS AROUND IN BACK; I KEPT ROLLING. THE TWR THEN ADVISES US TO 'IN THE FUTURE; HOLD SHORT OF THE TXWY; YOU HAVE CUT OUT ANOTHER JET BEHIND YOU.' THE FO THEN CRANES HIS NECK WAY AROUND AND SEES A JET 'WAY BACK' JUST ENTERING THE TXWY. I TELL HIM TO ASK THE TWR FOR INTENTIONS AND WE'RE TOLD TO CONTINUE. CORRECTIVE ACTIONS: IN THE FUTURE; IF I'M BEHIND SCHEDULE; I'M BEHIND SCHEDULE. I WILL NOT HURRY. WHEN WE ARE PARKED FACING AWAY FROM A TXWY AT AN ANGLE; I WILL TURN ALL THE WAY BACK AROUND TO ENTER AT A 90 DEG ANGLE WHERE I CAN SEE. I WILL BETTER APPRECIATE COMS DIFFICULTIES AT BUSY TIMES AND MAKE NO ASSUMPTIONS BASED ON MY OWN SITUATIONAL AWARENESS.
