Narrative
WE WERE AT 100 KTS INTO TKOF ROLL ON RWY 27L AT ORD WITH WHAT I DETERMINED WAS INSUFFICIENT RWY REMAINING TO COMPLETE AND CONTINUE TKOF; SO I ABORTED AND TAXIED OFF ON THE N EXTENSION OF CARGO B; HOLDING SHORT OF RWY 14R ON THE RWY 27L PARALLEL WHERE I REQUESTED THE 44 MIN BRAKE COOLING TIME AND THEN USE OF RWY 14R ON THE NEXT TKOF. AT THIS POINT IN TIME I THOUGHT THAT MAYBE THE AIRSPD HAD STALLED AND TKOF INTO THE WIND ON A LONGER RWY WOULD SOLVE THE PROB. AFTER ABOUT 10 MINS OF DATA REVIEW; THE FO POINTED OUT THAT THE SO HAD MISTAKENLY CIRCLED A FULL LENGTH DATA 'K' NOTE; WHEN WE ACTUALLY ONLY HAD PARTIAL RWY AVAILABLE AND WE WERE 10000 LBS OVER WT FOR 'J' NOTE ON THE EPR ATOG MESSAGE. NEEDLESS TO SAY; THOUGHTS OF ACR AT DTW WITH NO FLAPS MADE THE HAIR STAND UP. HAVING FOUND OUR MISTAKE AND NO MORE THAN NORMAL BRAKES USED DURING ABORT; WE CONTINUED THE FLT WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT. ON REVIEW; I BELIEVE MY CONCERN OVER A VERY DISRUPTIVE SO AND HIS BEING ON PROBATION PROBABLY CAUSED THE SIT TO DEVELOP.
