Narrative
ALL SIDS FROM CDG HAVE YOU TRACK A RADIAL THAT CORRESPONDS TO THE RWY MAGNETIC HDG. TAXI CLRNC WAS TO RWY 10; MAINTAIN RWY HDG TO 4000 FT; VECTORS TO EUX. TWR CLRNC WAS FLY RWY HDG 4000 FT; VECTORS EUX. WIND AT TKOF WAS 170/22 GUSTS 30; STRONG R XWIND. ON CLBOUT WE HEARD DEP CTL GIVE ANOTHER ACFT AN 'IMMEDIATE' TURN TO 360 DEGS. WHEN THAT ACFT (AFTER HE TURNED) ASKED WHY; HE WAS TOLD A WDB HAD DRIFTED INTO HIS RWY 9 DEP PATH. AFTER THAT; THE DE GAULLE DEP TOLD US WE SHOULD BE TRACKING RWY CTRLINE; THAT WE HAD ENTERED RWY 9 SPACE. MOMENTS LATER; HE TOLD ANOTHER FLT BEHIND US THE SAME THING. THAT FLT'S RESPONSE WAS 'THE CLRNC WAS RWY HDG AND I'M HDG 088 DEGS; RWY HDG.' NO MORE COMMENTS FROM DEP CTL. I THINK THERE MIGHT HAVE BEEN A BREAKDOWN IN COM BTWN GND/TWR AND DEP CTL AS TO WHAT OUR CLRNC WAS. DEP EXPECTED US TO TRACK 088 DEGS LIKE THE SIDS AND WAS UNAWARE OF THE RWY HDG CLRNC OR GND/TWR WAS NOT AWARE THAT THE USE OF THE PHRASE 'FLY' OR 'MAINTAIN' RWY HDG IS NOT A TRACKING CLRNC. ON PARALLEL RWYS; IF THE DOWNWIND ACFT IS TRACKING AND THE UPWIND ACFT IS HDG; IN A STRONG XWIND; A CONFLICT WILL RESULT. ALL ACFT WERE DOING THEIR PROPER CLRNC. THIS WAS AN ATC BREAKDOWN.
