FLC OF AN SMT ACR ACFT FAILED TO VISUALLY SIGHT RPTED TFC INTENDING TO LAND ON THE OPPOSING END OF THEIR TKOF RWY RESULTING IN THE OTHER ACFT ABANDONING APCH AT A NON TWR ARPT.

Narrative

ACR X FLT INBOUND TO LAND AT DRO CALLED ON FINAL TO RWY 2. AS WE APCHED THE HOLD LINE OF RWY 20; THEY CALLED 5 MI FINAL FOR RWY 2. WE DID NOT SEE THEM VISUALLY OR ON TCASII; AS WE CALLED DEPARTING RWY 20 WITH AN IMMEDIATE TURNOUT. AS WE BEGAN THE TKOF ROLL; THEY CALLED 'DON'T DO THAT; WE'RE ON SHORT FINAL.' WE STILL COULD NOT SEE THEM; AND BEGAN TO ABORT THE TKOF. THEY CALLED BRAKING OFF TO ENTER A L DOWNWIND TO RWY 20. WE THEN SAW THEM ABOUT 3 MI FROM THE ARPT; VISUALLY IDENTIFIABLE AS BEING IN 'CLEAN' CONFIGN (I.E.; GEAR UP). WE CONTINUED OUR TKOF AND PASSED ABEAM ON UPWIND. FACTORS: INACCURATE POS RPTING BY FLT; WHICH WAS ALSO MAKING A STRAIGHT-IN APCH TO THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION OF THE RWY IN USE (WE AND ANOTHER ACR Y FLT WERE DEPARTING RWY 20; AND THERE WAS AN SMA SEL ALSO IN THE PATTERN WHO BROKE OUT OF HIS XWIND LEG TO AVOID THE ACR Y FLT). SCHEDULE PRESSURE LED ME TO BEGIN A TKOF WITHOUT CONFLICTING ACFT IN SIGHT. I SHOULD HAVE WAITED UNTIL POSITIVE VISUAL CONTACT WAS ESTABLISHED.
