PLT OF AN SMT TWIN ENG SKY DIVING ACFT LANDED GEAR UP RESULTING IN NO INJURIES AND ONLY MINOR DAMAGE TO THE ACFT.
Narrative
I HAD DSNDED TO PATTERN ALT AND WAS SLOWING TO THE 120 MPH GEAR SPD. I PUT THE GEAR HANDLE DOWN. AT THAT TIME ANOTHER ACFT WAS DEPARTING IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION SO I EXTENDED MY DOWNWIND. THIS WAS A DISTR AND CAUSED ME TO CHANGE MY NORMAL PROCS. I LOWERED THE FLAPS AND WENT THROUGH THE GUMPS CHK ON THE BASE LEG AND ON FINAL. ON FINAL I HAD A PARACHUTE COMING DOWN CLOSE TO THE RWY AND I HAD TO DIVIDE MY ATTN ON LNDG. I HAVE A HABIT OF POINTING TO THE GAUGE OR THE LEVER GOING THROUGH THE CHK. I TOUCHED DOWN GEAR UP AND SLID DOWN AND OFF THE L SIDE OF THE RWY INTO THE GRASS. THERE WAS NO FIRE AND NO INJURIES. AFTER I CAME TO A STOP I SHUT OFF THE FUEL SELECTORS; THE MAGNETOS; AND THE BATTERIES. AFTER I ASCERTAINED THAT EVERYTHING WAS STABLE I CHKED AND THE GEAR HANDLE WAS DOWN; THE GEAR INDICATOR SAID UP. THE GEAR HORN DID NOT SOUND AT ANY TIME. I MUST HAVE LOCKED AT THE INDICATOR AND DID NOT SEE WHAT I THOUGHT I SAW. ON LIFTING THE ACFT WE HAD TO CRANK AND PRY THE GEAR INTO THE DOWN POS. THE FACTORS THAT I FEEL CONTRIBUTED TO THE INCIDENT WERE: 1) BEING DISTRACTED SEVERAL TIMES DURING THE APCH TO LNDG. 2) THE GEAR HORN NOT FUNCTIONING. 3) AFTER GOING THROUGH THE CHKLIST SO MANY TIMES PREVIOUSLY; I JUST WENT THROUGH THE MOTIONS.
