Narrative
AN IA; A CFII; AND MYSELF FLEW TO MVY ON THE MORNING OF THE OCCURRENCE TO INSPECT AND FERRY BACK TO OUR HOME BASE AN SMA SEL WHICH HAD BEEN INVOLVED IN A TAXI INCIDENT. THE SMA HAD SLIGHT DAMAGE TO THE LEADING EDGE OF THE R WING; ABOUT 2 FT FROM THE WINGTIP. THE IA INSPECTED THE ACFT; DID SOME ON-SIGHT REPAIRS; AND RELEASED THE ACFT TO ME FOR THE FLT BACK. I ASKED THE IA IF THE ACFT REQUIRED A FERRY PERMIT; HE RESPONDED BY TELLING ME THE DAMAGE WAS NOT SIGNIFICANT ENOUGH TO REQUIRE A FERRY PERMIT. I THEN PREFLTED THE ACFT AND PREPARED FOR THE FLT BACK TO IJU; ABOUT 75 NM. THE TWR CLRED ME FOR TKOF AND I TAXIED ONTO THE RWY. BEFORE I COULD BEGIN MY TKOF ROLL; THE TWR ADVISED ME THAT MY TKOF CLRNC WAS CANCELLED AND TO HOLD POS. I DID AS REQUESTED. THE TWR THEN ADVISED ME THAT THE FAA LCL FSDO WAS ON THE PHONE AND WAS INQUIRING ABOUT MY ACFT. THE TWR THEN ADVISED ME THAT THEY COULD NOT STOP ME FROM DEPARTING; BUT IF I DID; I MAY BE IN VIOLATION OF SEVERAL FARS; PER THE FSDO. I IMMEDIATELY PROCEEDED TO TAXI BACK TO THE RAMP AREA. THE IA THEN PHONED THE FSDO AND SPOKE WITH MR. X EXPLAINING THE SIT. MR. X AND THE IA SPOKE FOR SEVERAL MINS AND THEN THE IA INFORMED ME THAT A FERRY PERMIT WOULD BE ISSUED. THE FERRY PERMIT WAS ISSUED FOR THE FLT BACK TO MY HOME BASE. THE FLT TOOK PLACE WITH NO INCIDENT AND THE ACFT SHOWED NO SIGNS OF ADVERSE AFFECTS. AFTER RETURNING TO THE HOME FIELD; THE IA CALLED THE FSDO AGAIN TO BE SURE THERE WERE NO FURTHER PROBS.
